Who can be
a homestay host?

What is expected
from the homestay host?


  • A warm, welcoming and safe home environment
  • Care & sensitivity to their guest's needs and cultural background
  • A clean, private bedroom with a single bed per student, clothes storage space and a table or desk and chair for study
  • Access to communal areas of the home and to adequate daily use of the bathroom, with bath or shower
  • Provision of meals on a Bed & Breakfast, half-board or full-board basis
  • Communication with the student in English, eating meals with them when providing half or full-board 
  • Provision of a door key to adult students
  • Provision of one laundry service per week
  • Provision of towels and bed linen, to be changed weekly
  • In some cases picking up and dropping off the student each day at a local agreed meeting point

All our hosts need to agree to abide by the English UK's Homestay Code of Practice which can be found on the English UK website.

The majority of our homestays are situated around South East London but we would also like to hear from hosts who live closer to central London in zones 1 and 2 and can provide easy access for students to our language centre based in Greenwich.

Our school in Eastbourne is located in Compton Park and we are always looking for new hosts to welcome our students. Get in touch if you live within a 15 miles radius from Compton Park.

Getting Paid

Signing up to become a homestay host with us couldn't be easier. All you have to do is click 'Become a Host' below and submit your details. 

A member of our accommodation team will then be in contact with you to provide you with an application form and answer any questions you may have.

One of the best parts of hosting with us is that we will only send you students when it is convenient for you. 

Once you are signed up as a homestay host with us you will be able to update us with your availablity through our online homestay portal.

At Twin, we want you to see your hard work rewarded as soon as possible, which is why we pay all of our hosts on a weekly basis. That means you can concentrate on looking after our students, while we take care of all the administration.

The money you earn will depend on the service you are able to offer.
